Our Fearless Founders
Carmella and Mark Gelgor came to Canada with nothing more than an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for helping kids get active. They dreamed of sharing their love for sports with as many children as possible, which led to a big idea.

Humble Beginnings
The very first Sportball program was held in Toronto, Canada, in 1995 with only 3 kids. We were one of the first companies to incorporate principles of early childhood education into sports training for kids 12 and under.

Exciting Growth
Sportball quickly outgrew Toronto. We opened more Canadian locations in 2003, opened our first U.S. location in 2005, our first Asia-based location in 2009, and expanded into India in 2025. As our global reach grew, so did our family of passionate coaches who believed in our methodology and impact.

A Bright Future
With 900+ locations operating around the world, the momentum for Sportball is only growing. We’ve recently introduced a new brand identity, invited some new and exciting faces to our leadership team, and secured a financial investment that will help us reach even more children globally.
