We asked Jason D’Rocha, Growth Coach at Sportball, to share his thoughts on Sportball’s 30th Year. Here’s what he had to say about this milestone anniversary.

As Sportball celebrates its 30th anniversary, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey I’ve been privileged to be part of for the past 20 years. From my first day as a part-time coach to my current role helping shape the future of this organization, my time with Sportball has been nothing short of life-changing.

I could have never imagined the profound impact Sportball would have—not only on the thousands of children and families we serve but also on my own life. My earliest days were spent coaching kids, watching their faces light up as they mastered new skills and built confidence. Those moments solidified my belief in what Sportball stands for: developing physical and social literacy, fostering a passion for sports and physical activity, and building a foundation of self-confidence that will serve children for life.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to watch Sportball grow from a local community program to a global brand.  I’ve had the distinct privilege to contribute to Sportball in ways I never dreamed possible. I’ve helped to pioneer our Adapted Programs, ensuring that every child, regardless of ability, could experience the joy of sport. I served as Training Director, equipping coaches with the tools and resources needed to deliver programs that not only teach but inspire. Now, in franchise support and development, I’m helping bring the Sportball experience to new communities, growing our reach and multiplying our impact.

That’s what I’m doing, but the true magic of Sportball has always been the people. I’ve had the honor of working with colleagues who became friends and, in many cases, family. I even met my wife through Sportball—proof that this organization doesn’t just connect children to sport, but people to each other.

What makes Sportball so special is our shared commitment to making a difference. We aren’t just teaching kids to kick a ball or throw a pass. We’re teaching parents how to connect with their children through play, building relationships that strengthen families. We’re helping young professionals discover their potential, guiding them as they grow into confident, capable leaders. And above all, we’re creating opportunities for children to thrive, one game, one skill, and one cheer at a time.

As we celebrate this incredible milestone, I’m filled with gratitude for the countless families and children I’ve had the privilege to meet. Each one has taught me something new and reminded me why I love what I do. I’m equally inspired by our team—a group of dedicated individuals who believe in our mission as deeply as I do. Together, we are committed to reaching even more children in the years ahead, expanding the positive impact of Sportball and continuing to build a legacy of excellence.

To our families, coaches, and franchisees: thank you for trusting us, supporting us, and growing with us. Here’s to 30 years of Sportball—and to all the milestones, memories, and magic still to come.

Let’s keep raising the bar, inspiring confidence, and making a difference, one child at a time.
